Summary: The story describes the series of emotions. Louis Mallard suffers after hearing of the death of her husband, who was believed to have died in a railroad disasters. Mrs.Mallard suffers from heart problems; therefore, her sister attempts to inform her of horrific news in gentle way. Mrs.Mallard locks herself in a room to immediately mourn the loss of her husband. However, she begins to feel unexpected sense of excitements or joy. “Free! body and soul free” is what she believes in a benefit of his death. At the end of the story she learns, when her husband returns home, that he was not involved in railroad disasters. The shock of his appearance kills Mrs.Mallard. The reason his appearance is such a shock is left deliberately ambiguous.

They remarried and Berneathy settled in Kansas city but didn’t know how to reach Paula. Seven years later she got a call from Paula and cried. Now Paula back in Oklahoma and she is in Missouri. They meet every summer and one of them gave birth to a girl who calls aunt to Berneathy.

On the way,Mr.Kapasi noticed that the family were very American but very immature parents. Mr.Das is young,curious but not attentive while Mrs.Das is very self-concerned but shows interest on Mr.Kapasi after revealing his work as an interpreter.She began to questions him about his work and his life.Mr and Mrs.Das seems to have a bed relationship. Mrs.Das shows a little interest in their three kids while Mr.Das acts like an older brother and look after them. Mrs.Das later shares her little secret with Mr.Kapasi that she had an affair and birthed a middle child Bobby.She said she doesn't love her husband and her kids.Actually she needs some suggestion from Mr.Kapasi to help her out from illness.He felt so bad for Mr.Das and the children.He tells her to confess the truth to her husband.
