-- I think Peale would disapprove of McCullough's ideas on white lies because he is more concerned about courtesy,good manners.For him, telling the truth is mist important than the white lies.

-- I would rather hear the unpleasant truth about why I was rejected because it is about the job and have to be serious about this matter.However,It is better to confess the truth before it is late.Though it is hard to bear the truth but won't be disappoint later when we get to know the fact.
3. Mark Twain,writer and humorist,said this about lying:"One of the most striking difference between cat and lie is that a cat has only nine lives ." What do you think this quotation means?
-- It means Lies live on and on and has more lives than a cat.A cat only has nine lives,but a lies lives on forever.Sometime lies are so perpetuated they begin to look like truth.
4. Are there universal good manners?In other words,is there a core of good manners that polite people of all countries recognize?Or are good manners different for each individual culture?
-- Respect is a universal good manner.So is being polite and courteous. Good manners are different for each individual culture.
